We all have our favorite places to read (or the places we wind up reading in the most often). Reading is a time to unwind, escape, and learn more about ourselves and the world around us. Finding the perfect spot to read can just enhance that experience we all treasure and love. We all have differing opinions on where the best spot is to curl up and read. I’ve been able to explore some of my favorite reading spots and maybe yours are the same (or very similar).
My Favorite Spots to Read:
My All Time Favorite Spot:
My bed, tucked in with my fluffy comforter, and a delicious snack. I love reading in bed. Lights on or off. If I want to really relax with my book I seek out my bed. You can’t go wrong with eating your favorite treat or tasty snack while you read your book and that is just what I love doing. I also can’t go to sleep without reading a few pages of whatever book I am reading (oftentimes it is more than a few pages).
My Everyday Reading Spot:
I spend most of my time reading on my couch or the floor of my kids’ room. If I find myself reading on the couch I usually snag a blanket to drape over my lap. If I am waiting for my kids to fall asleep then I am curled by their bedside, laying on a conglomerate of stuffed animals with my phone on very low-light.
When I’m Feeling Adventurous:
My bathtub. Sometimes I like to relax in the tub and it is definitely adventurous for the book. I am always careful to not let the book, or phone fall into the bathwater. There is always a risk of it getting dunked but it hasn’t happened yet. Sometimes the pages get a little damp so I have to be mindful to get my hands dry before picking up my book. When I’m Reading an Audiobook:
Road trips! One of the few times I download audiobooks is when I am about to embark on a long road trip. A few times I have downloaded audiobooks to listen to when I am going to and from places but I have a hard time stopping. Therefore, I only like listening to audiobooks when I have a lot of open road ahead of me.
When I was a Kid:
I loved reading late into the night as a kid. When my parents would tell me to turn the lights out, I would find my flashlight and keep on reading. I always had to make sure I had my ears open to any sounds of parents coming back to check on me. I got caught a couple times reading way past my bedtime. Books were never taken away, but reminded very sternly it was time for bed. If it wasn’t late into the night it was on couches, or in the car, or on the floor. I loved reading and was often found with a book in my hand. Sometimes I would carry a book, just in case I found an opportunity to read it.
